SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — November 3, 2026. Chris Duncan, a former San Clemente mayor and attorney, is running as a Democrat for California Senate District 36. His opponent is Republican incumbent Tony Strickland, who previously served in Huntington Beach city government.
A coastal-city background
Duncan previously held elected office on the San Clemente City Council. His campaign discusses household affordability, public safety, effective coastal planning and transportation. His current campaign website describes his record and promises, which remain campaign claims unless corroborated by independent documentation.
Where the district reaches
Senate District 36 connects cities along the Orange County coastline with communities toward the Los Angeles County border. Voters in San Clemente, Huntington Beach and other communities share the same Senate contest, but local priorities vary: beach access and erosion, transportation, housing costs and emergency preparedness are among issues residents have raised across the district. Strickland’s campaign emphasizes spending, public safety and lower costs.
Social media and the personal ballot
The Duncan campaign is online at votechrisduncan.com. California58 has not independently confirmed where or when Duncan personally voted on November 3, nor authenticated a video depicting the submission of his ballot. Campaign media should not be confused with proof of a voting appearance.
