SAN CLEMENTE — November 2, 2026. San Clemente’s 2.3-mile Beach Trail connects North Beach and Calafia Beach, but city rules prohibit electric bicycles of every class along the coastal route.
Bike and dog rules
The city limits ordinary pedal bicycles to under 10 mph, with riders required to yield to pedestrians and walk through marked zones. All classes of e-bikes are banned, including when their motors are turned off. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than six feet.
The beach is different from the trail
Dogs may be walked on the trail under its rules but are not allowed on the adjacent beach. Visitors should use designated railroad crossings only and avoid trespassing on active track areas.
Accessibility and closures
The city lists accessible sections from North Beach to Mariposa and Linda Lane to the Pier. Current construction or erosion may affect individual segments, so check trail notices before arranging a long coastal walk.
